2024 CSPC Competitions are Ready

Hi Creative shots Photo Club Members,

All the 2024 CSPC club competitions have been setup in My Photo Club and are ready for you to submit your images. Entries for the February 2024 competition close at midnight on 17 January, the same night as the information meeting.

CSPC club competitions offer an opportunity to challenge yourself and showcase your photography no matter what your level of experience and we encourage you all to enter your images. More information is in the Club Competitions & Guidelines post.

My Photo Club allows us to setup the competitions in advance so you can upload images whenever you are ready, which is very helpful if you know you will be away. A list of the competition months, set subjects and due dates is below for your information. You can also revisit the page as often as you need to amend your entries up until the closing date. Competition results and the judge’s critique will be discussed at the information meeting for that month’s competition.

To enter the competition click on the grey MEMBERS button and select the CSPC COMPETITION you wish to upload images for. The upload form checks to ensure the image is within the correct size requirements but if not, it allows you to fix it and re-upload the image.

For information on how to upload your images click on the pink ENTRY HELP button for guidance. To view the CSPC Competition Guidelines click on the orange CLICK HERE TO VIEW COMPETITION RULES AND DEFINITIONS button.

Please contact me by email to comps@creativeshots.com.au if you have any questions or concerns about uploading your images or the competitions in general.

Pixel Party Photo Booth Hire Lights Up Our Christmas Celebration!

As the President of Creative Shots Photo Club Mackay, I’m delighted to share a highlight from our recent Christmas Party – the Pixel Party Photo Booth!

This year, we added a twist to our celebration by inviting Pixel Party’s Selfie Station, and it was a phenomenal hit! It’s not every day that we, the photographers, find ourselves in front of the camera, but the allure of Pixel Party’s interactive and fun-filled booth was irresistible.

The experience was a delightful change of perspective for us all. Seeing our members unleash their creativity and enjoy being on the other side of the lens was truly special. The booth not only captured fantastic photos but also laughter, camaraderie, and the spirit of the season.

A heartfelt thank you to Pixel Party for adding such a unique and joyous element to our festivities. It was a night that reminded us of the fun and magic that photography brings into our lives.

Celebrating 2023 at the Creative Shots Photo Club Xmas Party!

What a splendid night we had at the Creative Shots Photo Club Xmas Party! We gathered at the Andergrove Tavern to celebrate another fantastic year of being members of our club. The evening, beautifully organized by Tanya and Donna, was filled with laughter, camaraderie, and festivities.

With a beautifully decorated room the scene was set for a night of congratulations and celebrations. Tanya and Donna had thoughtfully arranged some delightful candles and delectable treats for all of us to take home—a wonderful gesture to remember this memorable evening. Thank you ladies.

Our festivities commenced with words of appreciation from yours truly as the President. I had the honor of expressing our gratitude to some individuals who have been the driving force behind our club’s success. Helen, for her dedication to the role of Outings Coordinator, ensuring we explore exciting photography locations. Marian, who tirelessly coordinated all the club competitions for the year, both internal and external, with finesse. Michele, for her unwavering commitment to keeping our social media pages alive and for crafting the monthly newsletter. And Mitch, our guardian of the club’s exhibition frames, who frames our photographs with infinite patience year after year.

A heartfelt thanks was also extended to all the committee members: Helen, Tanya, Trish, Marian, Donna, Karen, Wendy, John, and David. Your contributions have been invaluable in keeping the club thriving.

After a sumptuous dinner that pleased our discerning tastes, it was time for the highlight of the evening—the presentation of the Challenges sponsored by our generous supporters.

The ColourEdge Challenge (John Robertston), with its theme of “Mushrooms,” displayed a captivating array of interpretations and beautiful prints. Congratulations to Marian Moyle, Lenore Hansen, and Stacy Nicholas, who secured the top three spots in this challenge.

Next in line was the challenge set by Michel and Noel Jackson, where Lenore Hanson emerged victorious, capturing first place with her captivating collection of images featuring a beautiful young girl.

The Square Crop Challenge, sponsored by myself as Club President, brought forth some truly remarkable entries. Jenelle de Costa clinched the first-place prize with her stunning image of a Mangrove tree.

Then came the Bird Challenge, sponsored by David Phillips. Our club revealed its exceptional bird photographers as we viewed a stunning array of images on the big screen. The winners across various categories were Jenelle de Costa (Bird Behaviors), Lyn Evans (Bird Portrait), Mark Evans (Birds In Flight), Wendy Coad (Birds In The Landscape), and Lenore Hansen (Birds In Your Backyard).

Last but certainly not least was the “Up-Close and Wide Animal Challenge,” sponsored by Cherish Artz. This challenge brought smiles and giggles, and I was delighted to present the top prize to Karen Monk.

A heartfelt thank you goes out to all our sponsors in 2023. These challenges added an extra layer of excitement to our club activities and produces images of exceptional quality.

With dessert that was simply divine, provided by the Andergrove Tavern, we savored every bite as we continued our lively conversations and celebrations. I believe David has a second helping it was so good!

The grand finale of the evening was the presentation of the photographer who accumulated the most points through their consistent participation in the club’s internal competitions throughout 2023. Congratulations to our top scorers:

Topic Open Colour: 3rd Lenore Hansen, 2nd Jenelle de Costa, 1st Marian Moyle.

Topic Monochrome: 3rd Marian Moyle, 2nd Wendy Coad, 1st Trish Jones.

Topic Set Subject: 3rd Helen Senyard, 2nd Stacey Nicholas, 1st Jenelle de Costa.

The Overall Top Scorers for 2023 were 3rd Jenelle de Costa, 2nd Wendy Coad, and 1st Marian Moyle.

Lastly, an Encouragement Award was presented to Margaret Oar, who has shown a keen interest in developing her photography skills by attending outings, meetings, and critique nights. I am enjoying watching your progress. Well done, Margaret!

I want to express my gratitude to EVERYONE in the club, whether or not you were able to attend the Xmas Party. Our club is not just about photos; it’s about the love of photography and the creation of genuine friendships among our members. We are, after all, the fun and enthusiastic Photo Club.

As we bid adieu to 2023, I wish you all a beautiful Christmas and the very best in 2024. May your cameras keep clicking and your passion for photography continue to grow!
