Help Needed
Hi everyone, I hope you’re enjoying another drizzly Sunday!
I know some of you are managing to get out and shoot regardless of the weather.
We are in urgent need of a volunteer or volunteers to get the key for our monthly meetings and open the room on the corresponding night. The key needs to be picked up before 4.00pm from the council reception. There are only 5 more meetings for the year: 17th July, 21st August, 18th September, 16th October and 20th November.
If you can help our club in this way, please ring or text Mitch (0419888515) or Tracey (0412190514) ASAP.
Our club shirts look great. I will bring them to the next meeting but if you need them before the July meeting just text or ring Tracey to arrange pick up.

Submissions due for 2024 Qld Interclub Competition
I hope you have been thinking about the images you would like to submit for consideration for CSPC’s participation in the 2024 Qld Interclub competition. The Entry Details and Set Subjects & Definitions can be found on the competition’s My Photo Club page, and the attached documents also have some more detailed information so please look at both.
How we work it
– We ask the members to submit up to 4 images for each category they have suitable images for.
– We will then email out a pdf of all the photos and ask for everyone’s votes for our final selections to submit to the competition i.e. clubs can submit 3 images for each Competition Category, with a maximum of 21 images per club.
Submissions are Due no later than midnight on 17th July.
Images may be submitted on USB to me at the club meeting on 17 July, or by email to comps@creativeshots.com.au.
Image size
Image sizing requirements are the same as the CSPC competitions i.e. digital images must:
- be in JPG file format.
- be in sRGB colour space.
- be a maximum of 1920 pixels on the long edge and 1080 pixels on the short edge for example, a landscape or pano image would be no more than 1920 pixels on the horizontal (width) and 1080 on the vertical (height), a portrait image would be no more than 1080 on the horizontal and much shorter on the vertical, and a square image would be no more than 1080 pixels on either edge.
- be no more than 2MB in size.
- have no watermarks or identification of the maker.
Refer to the club resizing video on My Photo Club for guidance on resizing your images.
Naming your images
For competition purposes, your image (TITLE only) must have a maximum title length of 35 characters including spaces (but no special characters or numbers). To submit your images for consideration, please include your name and the following Set Subject key in the title of your submission images. These characters and your name are not included in the maximum title length and will be removed prior to submitting successful images to the competition.
A – Architecture
F – Food Photography
C – Creative
S – Scapes
P – People
O – Non A Grade Open (sometimes referred to as AB & B Grade)
N – Nature
Please name your images:
setsubjectkey_your name_image name e.g. A_John Smith_Bucasia Dawn
Submission requirements
Please read the entry information in the attachments and on the My Photo Club page carefully before you submit your images. In particular, note the following:
- If you belong to more than one club, you can only enter with one club.
- Images in all of the Competition Categories may be in colour or monochrome.
- AI images are NOT allowed, including use of ‘Generative Fill’ in Photoshop.
- Because our club does not have grades, Non A Grade – Open is for less experienced members, for any suitable images that have not been selected for a Set Subject.
- Images cannot have been entered in previous Qld Interclub competitions.
- There isn’t a timeframe restriction so your less recent photos can be submitted.
I encourage you all to submit your images and look forward to your participation 🙂

Coffee, Camera, Conversation
Our next Coffee, Camera, Conversation is at the Goose Ponds in North Mackay. We’ll meet in the carpark behind the bowls club on Saturday 29 June at 8:30. We’re sure to meet some characters in the form of birds as we venture along the paths around the Goose Ponds. Then back to Charlies in the North Mackay Bowls Club for our favourite part coffee and conversation. I won’t be there for this one but it’s great to see so many members enjoying and getting involved in this activity. Enjoy.

Birds, Beach and Breakfast. July Outing
This is very early notice I know but as I’m going to be away until the middle of July, I thought I’d give you a heads up. Birds, Beach and Breakfast will be held at Bucasia Beach on the 20th of July. We’ll meet at the shelter shed across from the Beachfront Cafe at 6:00am. This gives us time to set up for sunrise around 6:40. The tide will be low but coming in which should give us some nice colours on the wet sand. Bring along some shells or other props which fit into the beach theme. Have your tripod for long exposure on the water. We’ll have breakfast at the cafe around 7:30/8:00. There’s always plenty of birds also to photograph in the park. I will send out another notice as the time gets closer.

Qld Interclub Competition 2024
The Qld Interclub Competition is now open and Creative Shots Photo Club has entered. - Creative

Sundaze Update
Times have changed for the SUNDAZE Fun Day Event. The cars will start gathering from 8:30am at the amphitheater at the Botanic Gardens and depart at 10:00. I’m sure if we get there around 9:00/9:30 we’ll get plenty of shots and get good photos as they are all leaving.

Covered in Chrome June Outing.
Our June outing ‘Covered in Chrome’ will be held on Sunday June 9 at the Mackay Harbour. Be ready to be dazzled by some beautifully presented cars and motorbikes. Meet at the original toilet block at the harbour at 7:30 am. Do not park near the cafe and shops as this is where the display cars park. Always remember to ask permission to photograph, they are a friendly and obliging group of people.
Our day then turns into an ‘Excellent Adventure‘. The club has been approached to take photos at the SUNDAZED Fun Day to be held at the Mackay Botanic Gardens Soundshell and Sarina Showgrounds. Cars from Mackay Car Clubs will be gathering at the Gardens Soundshell from 9:30 before leaving as a cavalcade at 10:30 to drive down to Sarina Showgrounds. It would be wonderful for the club to support a local event and fundraiser. This event is organised to support the Craig family who lost their husband and Dad earlier this year. I’m sure they don’t want thousands of photos, just shots to help promote a local event. ASAP to: outings@creativeshots.com if you intend to come to the outing and, or the Excellent Adventure.
